Manchester Music Royalty Visits Wythenshawe…

Manchester music legend Peter Hook took time out from his busy schedule to visit United Estates.

Peter is the newly installed Patron of United Estates of Wythenshawe. ‘Hooky’ came to Wythenshawe to perform the ground cutting ceremony at the United Estates Building for the region’s first outdoor Gym and Combative arts Centre, The Outdoor Gym has been planned and designed and will eventually be handed over to be run and managed by the areas local boxers, martial artists and anyone interested in the combative arts.

Hooky Said “This is a brilliant idea and I believe the first one of its kind in the area. Anything that provides our youngsters with positive activities and of course positive role models is worth pursuing and I have no hesitation in lending a hand”

UEW are one of the beneficiaries of Music For Cities, a special Sold out concert performed by Hooky and his band The Light at Manchester Cathedral last November, other performances came from Tim Burgess from The Charlatans and Puressence. Hooky plans to provide his support to other fundraising concerts that will help support projects in other tough inner city areas of Manchester. SPORTED, the Olympic Legacy Charity, also provided financial support for the project.
